Sr. Buyer
Work Summary

We have an immediate opening in our Purchasing Department for a Sr. Buyer 

Key job duties/responsibilities of Sr. Buyer:
  • Complies the necessary information and takes independent action to procure supplies, materials, equipment and services.
  • Prepares bid invitations and conducts bid openings; examines bids for compliance with procurement requirements.
  • Has extensive contact with vendors to obtain prices and specifications of products.
  • Prepare purchase orders or other agreements as necessary and check them for accuracy and completeness before issuing.
  • Analyze industry prices and price trends and compare with actual supplier prices.
  • Assist the Director of Purchasing in evaluating suppliers performance by gathering information and preparing reports.
  • Assist with value analysis projects.
  • Assist in contract negotiations as requested by the Director.
  • Ensure that all purchase transactions are conducted in an ethical and legal manner.
  • Experience sourcing new products.
  • Strong follow up to meet customer demand.
Education and Experience:
  • 7-10 years minimum purchasing experience for a manufacturing enterprise.
  • Business Law, contract negotiations, strong technical knowledge and understanding in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent Communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Basic Business Math skills
  • Ability to read, comprehend and provide complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to make sound decisions that result in improved production and workflow.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times, and secure confidential data and records.
  • Requires a high degree of mental concentration to interpret and act upon a wide range of situations and a high degree of attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Outlook 
  • Working knowledge of office machinery including: copy, fax, scanner and typewriter.
Education and Experience:
  • MS Office, MRP, Reorder Point, negotiation, Experience with ISO procedures and purchasing and procedures.

CNC Maintenance Mechanic
Work Summary

This position is responsible to maintain machine tools such as lathes, mills and robotics equipment.

  • Maintains machine tools such as Lathes, Mills and Robotics equipment
  • Performs preventive and predictive maintenance and general overhaul of all plant manual machines and equipment.
  • Identify needed parts and initiates purchase process for parts.
  • Must be a High School graduate or equilivent (GED) and seven years related experience in specific industry and or an Associates Degree with technical focus on CNC repair and 5 years related experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, machine drawings, technical manuals, ladder logic and written instruction.
  • Experience with PLC operation and test equipment repair procedures
  • Experience with Servo drive systems
  • Ability to navigate multiple machine controls such as Mazak, Okuma and DMG
  • Advanced knowledge of electronic, mechanical and hydraulic principles
  • Understanding of tool calibration
  • Knowledge of machining and welding skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • This position is Weekend shift working Friday through Sunday 4:00 am to 4:30 pm

Work Summary

Provides support to Helac product lines by developing moderately complex design drawings and related specifications of actuators and components.

  • Supports one or more of the product lines daily. 
  • Modifies machine design to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems. 
  • Interfaces with Sales and Manufacturing to implement revisions and design changes. 
  • Generates proposals for customers. 
  • Uses established design formulas to size actuators and components. 
  • Uses conventional drafting procedures to communicate effectively with Manufacturing and Sales staff. 
  • Maintains engineering records as required. 
  • IMay perform tests or direct testing lab as requested.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and completion of drafting program or applicable experience. 
  • Minimum of five years related experience. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and test For Fractions, Decimals, Geometry, and Engineering Drawings. 
  • Ability to use current ANSI & ISO drafting procedures. 
  • Proficient on CAD drafting/3-D Solid Modeling (AutoCAD 2000, Solid Work 2004). 
  • Familiarity with lathe-mill machining, fabrication, and welding. 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints. 
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions. 
  • Experience in one or more of the following is preferred: Construction or mining equipment; hydraulic component and seal design; Castings and forgings; hydraulic systems, schematics, and basic circuit design. 
  • Working knowledge of Windows 2000 and data base and spreadsheet software, Microsoft Excel and Access.

CNC Machine Operator - Lathe
Work Summary

1st shift, Mon – Fri 5:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
2nd shift, Mon – Fri 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Operate Helac machines, ability to make setups on various machines in multiple cells. Experience with Mazak M32 control, Okuma, Fanuc, controls or manual gear cutting is preferred.
Set up on various types of production equipment.
Loads and unloads, deburrs and does all inspection of any run in the cell.
Move offsets and performs editing on the control of most jobs in the cell and blocks through programs.
Checks, oil, coolant, grease and any other light maintenance items needed.
Maintains a clean work area and assists in departmental housekeeping.
Complies with safety procedures and company policies.

CNC Machine Operator - Mills
Work Summary

Operate Helac machines, ability to make setups on various machines in multiple cells. Experience with Mazak Mills a plus for this position. 
Description of Work Performed:
  • Set up on various types of production equipment.

  • Move offsets and performs editing on the control of most jobs in the cell and blocks through programs.
  • Checks, oil, coolant, grease and any other light maintenance items needed.
  • Maintains a clean work area and assists in departmental housekeeping.
  • Complies with safety procedures and company policies.  

  • Minimum Three years experience as a mill operator, or the equivalent. Ability to demonstrate this knowledge to supervisor
  • Ability to read and comprehend machine coordinates
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions and complete tasks that may be repetitive.
  • Ability to lift 45 lbs. 

2nd Shift: Mon to Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Mechanical Design Engineer
 Work Summary

We are looking for people to fill future openings as a hands-on design engineer. The ideal candidate will have mechanical component design experience related to hydraulics, power transmission/gears, or mobile industrial equipment.

As a Helac Design Engineer your duties will include:
  • Assisting sales and applications engineering with product sizing calculations and product customization
  • Design of new actuators with components consisting of shafts, gears, housings, mounting structures and seals.
  • Interfacing and communication with the engineering departments of the customer
  • Project management
  • Collaboration with the manufacturing engineering and quality departments

Required skills and experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 4+ years of relevant engineering design experience 

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Hydraulics experience; Seals, valves, and hydraulic circuit design
  • Mechanical Design experience in weldments, forgings and castings
  • Stress analysis including hand calculations and FEA
  • Working knowledge of metallurgy including steel alloys and heat treatments such as; Nitriding and Induction hardening
  • Gear Design and/or manufacturing experience with helical gears and splines.
  • Proficient in Solidworks
  • Project management experience
  • Sensors and other on-board machine electronics
  • GD& T and tolerance stackup experience
  • Product testing experience including design of experiments and writing of test plans

Actuator Assembly
Work Summary

2nd shift, Mon – Fri 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Uses a variety of hand tools and basic production equipment to prepare components
for assembly.
Assembles repetitive products.
Assists upper level assemblers in cleaning, organizing and maintaining the work areas
and equipment.

Work Summary

Operates one or more weld tools, special purpose machines, or industrial robots to weld metal work pieces to specifications on production basis by performing the following duties.
Tacks welds using fixtures.
Welds bosses and housing.
Checks dimensions using measuring devices, i.e., check pins with decimal tape and dial calipers.
