Our state-of-the-art, 118,000 square foot manufacturing facility uses over 100 pieces of latest computerized machinery. Helac machinery consists of Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) lathes, robotic/automatically loaded CNC lathes, vertical lathes, inverted vertical lathe with integrated pallet changer, CNC vertical mills, CNC horizontal mills, FMS with stacker, CNC centering machines, robotic welders and assorted internal and external straight and helical gear cutting machinery.

Director of Actuator Sales 6015

Work Summary

Worldwide management of sales activities for Helac products, (no attachments) supervision the sales team and management of the company’s sales channels.

Description of Work Performed:

  • Provide leadership, coordinate and facilitate talent development activities for the sales team
  • Expand and manage the company’s sales channels i.e. distributors, agents, other.
  • Plan and manage the sales team and sales channel activities to achieve the sales goals of the company
  • Develop and ensure execution of annual, quarterly and monthly sales targets for the sales team and sales channels
  • Establish and maintain customer relationships and manage key accounts
  • Negotiate and manage all business arrangements with customers i.e. orders, supply agreements, terms and conditions, logistics, etc.
  • Direct and coordinate with the sales team and sales channels the all-necessary activities required to execute on sales-leads generated by marketing
  • Plan, coordinate and verify execution of sales all activity i.e. sales calls, preparation of business proposals, quotations, sales reports, tactical pricing, etc.
  • Gather market information and report back to marketing i.e. competitor activities, market and technology trends, customer activities, etc.
  • Assume a leadership role and coordinate activities to provide customer support and resolve customer complaints

Frequently exercises discretion, initiative and independent judgement, ensuring immediate supervisor is informed of decisions in a timely manner. Most instruction given verbally.

Relations to Others:

The ability to maintain good working relationships with Helac team members as well as outside contacts (i.e. vendors, customers, etc.).

Directly supervises actuator sales department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) preferably in a technical field such as engineering or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience – Five years experience selling technical products preferably hydraulic system components for mobile markets
  • Demonstrated ability to develop close business relationships with customers
  • The ability to comprehend and communicate with customers technical concepts and to uncover the customer’s technical and other unmeet needs
  • The ability to read, comprehend, and provide complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to lead and direct others in the daily activities of the organization.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality at all times, and secure confidential data and records.
  • The ability to maintain a high degree of mental concentration to interpret and act upon a wide range of situations. The job requires a high degree of attention to details.
  • Strong knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software, preferably Microsoft Excel and Word; strong CRM and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) skills.
  • Travel to national and international locations, travel may be up to 50%.

Engineering Technician 2008

Work Summary

Assemble, time, and troubleshoot actuators for production testing. Set up test fixtures according to verbal and written instruction. Perform actuator testing according to both written and verbal test plans, record results and track progress. Plan and assemble hydraulic circuits required for testing. Fabricate simple test fixtures with minimal engineering input.

Description of Work Performed:

  • Assemble and Time actuators. Test assembled actuators to determine proper leak-free assembly.
  • Troubleshoot problem actuators.
  • Perform basic tests on actuators (torque, backlash, endplay, etc.) and record results accurately.
  • Perform basic dimensional inspection of actuator components.
  • Read and understand engineering/assembly drawings.
  • Plan components required for documented hydraulic circuits. Plan routing of associated hydraulic plumbing. Troubleshoot problems with documented hydraulic circuits.
  • Perform minor machining duties required for actuator assembly or test fixture modifications.
  • Design simple hydraulic circuits for use in actuator testing.
  • Fabricate simple fixtures for actuator testing.
  • Travel as needed to conduct field-testing and troubleshooting.
  • Perform duties associated with the cleaning, organizing, and maintenance of the testing area.
  • Perform other duties are required.

Instructions, Methods, and Procedures Used:

Requires minimal supervision. Decisions are made with direct guidance from supervisor. Instructions are given both verbally and by written test procedures.

Relations to Others:

Ability to maintain working relationships with all levels of Helac staff as well as outside contacts (i.e. vendors, customers, etc.).

Direction Received from Others:

Director of Engineering, other Product/Project/Design Engineers and work with senior and other Engineering Technicians.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • High school education or general education degree (GED), vocational technical advanced engineering courses, and two – five years of related experience.
  • Once hired, an employee in this position will continue to work towards the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Once hired, an employee in this position will continue to work towards the ability to understand measuring devices, thread terminology, and basic shop algebra.
  • Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings.
  • Ability to understand complex hydraulic concepts, system, schematics and components. This involves understanding the basic concepts of pressure/flow/hydraulic work, flow restriction across components, component repair and troubleshooting and simple circuit design. This is normally acquired through the completion of both a basic and intermediate hydraulics course, or equivalent knowledge and experience approved by supervisor.
  • Ability to understand and apply concepts normally found in an Introductory Physics course. This involves understanding momentum, energy conservation, kinematics, dynamics, and basic statics. This is normally acquired through the completion of a high school or college level introductory physics course, or equivalent knowledge and experience approves by supervisor.
  • Mechanical aptitude and previous experience with machine components and hand-held power tools through prior work experience, hobbies, vocational/technical courses, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand surface finishes, material hardness, and basic failure mechanisms.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be very detailed oriented to accurately and consistently record test results, and to watch for subtle changes in a test’s operation that may note malfunction, deterioration, etc.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; twist or bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee frequently is required to walk talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
